The call for applications for the 5th edition of the Reimagine Textile Awards is now open.

We are looking for the 100 best entrepreneurial initiatives in the field of textile innovation.

Tecnocampus, Eurecat and the Mataró City Council, together with ASEGEMA, are launching the 5th edition of the Reimagine Textile Awards with the aim of promoting and supporting the best entrepreneurial initiatives in the fields of sustainability, technology, digital transformation, and innovation within the textile value chain. The goal is to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Mataró through financial, logistical, and acceleration support for new business projects.

These awards are aimed both at entrepreneurs with a business idea and at young companies in the textile sector with an innovative and environmentally friendly value proposition.

There are three categories that aim to recognize the best value proposition based on sustainability or circular economy, textile functionality, and digital technology.

In the category of sustainable or circular economy proposals, the evaluation will focus on aspects such as the reduction in the use of natural resources in production, the reuse of pre-consumer or post-consumer waste, the elimination of negative environmental impact, among other initiatives that promote sustainability or circularity within the textile value chain.

In the next category, the focus will be on projects that incorporate functionality into the textile product, whether through technology and interactivity (sensors and/or actuators) — such as luminescent fabrics or thermoregulating garments — or through the use of materials, textile structures, finishes, or innovative functionalization processes that provide specific properties to the product. Examples include improved thermal management, absorption capacity, antibacterial properties, mechanical resistance, and more.

The digital business model category focuses on the integration of digital technologies into one or more elements of the business model — for example, purchasing, production, logistics, sales, or customer relations, among others.

There will be a single winner in each category, each receiving a cash prize of €3,000. In addition, the winners will enjoy other significant benefits to help boost their business projects: a 50% discount for one year to access the coworking space at the Reimagine Textile incubator, pattern making and garment production services for two samples per year, free access to the fully equipped photo studio and the experimentation and prototyping FabLab, technological advisory, support in securing funding, access to specialized training and sector-specific information, and one year of fully subsidized membership in ASEGEMA.

Additionally, the winners of each category will also be eligible for an extra cash prize of €2,000 under the INNOVATION PLUS PROJECT award, which will be granted to the initiative that provides the greatest added value to society in terms of innovation and/or sustainability.

Applications for the awards can be submitted until July 21, 2025. In the first selection phase, a technical committee made up of representatives from the organizing entities will select the 15 finalist projects. Afterwards, the finalists will present their projects in an elevator pitch format before the jury, which will choose the winners.

The Reimagine Textile Awards are organized by the TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme Foundation, the Mataró City Council, EURECAT, and ASEGEMA, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council and in collaboration with sponsoring companies.
