Giró innovates with a plastic-free fruit and vegetable packaging.
Eurecat, through Reimagine Textile, collaborates with Giró, a leading family-owned multinational company in fruit and vegetable packaging systems, integrating mesh manufacturing and commercialization, in the development of its new 100% cellulosic packaging.
Specifically, in the search for suitable cellulosic yarns to replace conventional plastic ones, as well as in the search for an optimal thermo-adhesive to seal this new packaging.
Another of the joint projects involved the design and characterization of an alternative closing system to the metal strap, aiming to achieve fully recyclable packaging.
Additionally, Eurecat organized tailored training sessions so that Giró’s multidisciplinary teams could gain knowledge about new cellulosic materials and new suppliers.
